Zoning Ordinance - Summit Township

The Summit Township Board of Supervisors has adopted the Zoning Ordinance which sets forth land use classifications and divides the township into zoning districts as delineated on the official zoning maps.  The Board of Supervisors has adopted these zones for the purpose of implementing the goals and policies of the Comprehensive Plan, to protect the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Summit Township, to safeguard and enhance the appearance and quality of township development, and to provide for the social, physical and economic advantages resulting from comprehensive and orderly planned use of land resources.

The Summit Township Zoning Ordinance was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 1992 and has been updated and amended since that time. The Zoning ordinance is available for view or downloading below; copies of zoning and transportation maps are available for review at the Township Office.

ZONING ORDINANCE 1992-05 An ordinance dividing the Township into various zoning districts and regulating the construction, alteration and use of structures and land within each district.

APPENDIX I - ZONING ORDINANCE 1992-05 - Provisions relating to planned residential development.

APPENDIX II - ANTENNA ORDINANCE - Amends the Summit Township Zoning Ordinance to regulate the placement, height, setbacks, fencing, landscaping and other requirements of antenna support structures and antenna.

APPENDIX A - GREENSPACE ORDINANCE - This Article is intended to provide uniform standards for the development and maintenance of the landscaping of private property and public rights-of-way.

APPENDIX B - STORMWATER ORDINANCE - To assure safe management of stormwater runoff resulting from land alteration and disturbance activities in accordance with watershed stormwater management plans. To utilize and preserve the existing natural drainage systems and to preserve the flood-carrying capacity of streams. To encourage natural infiltration of rainfall to preserve groundwater supplies and stream flows. To provide for adequate maintenance of all permanent stormwater management structures in the municipality.

SUBDIVISION, LAND DEVELOPMENT AND MOBILE HOME PARK ORDINANCE - An Ordinance regulating the subdivision and/or development of land and the construction, opening, widening, and dedication of streets, alleys, sewers, and other facilities in connection therewith.  The ordinance also regulating mobile home parks by establishing uniform requirements for the design, construction, alteration, extension, and maintenance of such mobile home parks and related utilities and facilities.
